After the Retreat

Happy Labor Day! I am a couple days home from my Morocco retreat and it was amazing! I could not have asked for anything more. At the bottom of this email I have included a link to my instagram for those of you interested in some pictures.
This trip was the most ambitious retreat I have ever led and it was truly spectacular. Morocco is a magical place made even more magical when traveling through it with the incredible group that came with me. The group came together so quickly and melded into a beautiful energy of support and love.
Since returning, I have been observing my process of re-entry, the coming down after the high of the trip. What I noticed first was my mind making note of just the couple of things I want to improve for the future. After that I then began to settle into an overall appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful trip we had together.
That is how the mind often works; we tend to focus on the things we want to improve before we can “get to the good stuff”. This process is normal but I was very conscious of the space and time in my mind I allocated to each. We have control over what takes up residency in the mind and for how long. That is mindfulness.
Yesterday, as I sat at the beach, I again observed my own thoughts and feelings. I felt a true sense of peace stemming from the satisfaction of an amazing trip. I felt a tug of longing for the students that came with me on this journey and a huge sense of GRATITUDE; for this incredible shared experience, for the opportunity to lead these amazing people, for the current moment and for what is to come in the future. For now, all of that is what I am allowing to live in my mind, and for that, again, I am grateful.
