Bloom Where I am Planted

Hi Everyone,
Hi! I hope you all are having a great summer. This last month has been quite a whirlwind for my family but we are getting adjusted to our new life in a new state. This week I finally found some time for my yoga practice. It felt both strange and good to lay down my mat in my new home. It was my first real practice here now that most of the boxes have been unpacked.
I have been thinking a lot about what the word HOME means. Of course, it means what we all know it means– a house, a place we live, a structure. However, it actually means more than that. Another definition is “a place where your love dwells, the abiding place of the affections.” This description makes it much easier for me to feel “at home” in a new place as I am with my husband and children. And it also makes me realize that we can have many homes and they do not need to be connected to a physical structure. Irvington will always be a home to me because there are so many people I love there.
With all of that said, my practice is to be present in my new home, to Bloom Where I am Planted. It starts small like a seed in the ground, reconnecting with the earth… rooting down after a time of groundlessness. For me getting back on my mat always helps to feel grounded.
We don’t have to have physically relocated to feel groundless– maybe it’s the pandemic or other life changes going on or just a change of routine that summer can bring that can cause us to feel disconnected from the present moment. The practice is always there, reminding us to look for grounding, to root down so we can rise up– to Bloom Where we are Planted.
For me step one was to get back on my mat and soon it will be to get back to work both teaching yoga and KLARITY Mindsette workshops. I am missing teaching so much that it likely won’t fully feel like home here until I am back at a studio, hopefully in September.
In the meantime, I am thinking about offering a virtual class or a virtual class session. I would love to hear if you would be interested in that and what days/times work best. I was thinking morning, possibly Saturday or Sunday but would welcome feedback. Please email or message me with your preference. My outdoor studio is ready :).
Sending Love,
Allison
