Generosity Leads to Abundance

Happy Monday! I shared the Buddhist principle; Generosity leads to Abundancewith my students this past week.
I have found in my own experience that there is an additional element we need when cultivating true abundance in our lives, and that is authenticity.
When we make choices based on both of these qualities we have the chance to cultivate true abundance in our lives which can take the form of deep relationships, physical & emotional health, love and joy.
I challenged myself this week to be extra generous with my gratitude for tasks that were performed in my daily life; whether it was the person bagging my groceries or the Amazon delivery person I was mindful of how simple gestures of generosity can boomerang back to the giver in the form of abundance.
This concept gets larger when we choose to use just what we need; that is generosity to the environment and that creates more abundance on the earth for everyone. We treat our bodies generously when we eat nutritious food, get restful sleep and move our bodies mindfully and with care. As a result of that generosity our bodies offer us abundance. The generosity we extend to others offers abundance as well. Sometimes it comes right back but often it is not directly reciprocal but rather a chain reaction that brings us abundance from another source. It is very powerful once we start to notice those ripple effects.
This passage from Mark Nepo describes the power of authenticity beautifully.
