One Size Does NOT Fit All

I hope you all had a nice week enjoying this spring weather. Over the past few weeks I have let myself physically get really run down and my body definitely responded with a reminder that I needed to slow down. After a few days of rest I feel totally back to normal and am excited to teach my full schedule this week.
In addition to my classes, my Introduction to Mindfulness series begins this Thursday. Developing this program has been a powerful journey for me as it has required me to carefully distill that which I believe to be the most important tenants of mindfulness. As it so often happens, in going through that process I was reminded again that so much of what I am excited to share with students is also what I needed to continue to practice myself.
Because I wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t feel much like meditating in a seated position this week. Instead I wanted to lay down or even meditate while in restorative poses such as pigeon. I began to notice my inner voice being judgmental and critical of myself as a seasoned meditator and teacher. It was at that point that I remembered one of the most powerful principles of meditation… One size does NOT fit all.
Meditation can be what you need in that moment; it can be laying down or propped in a chair or walking or running or swimming or watching a sunset. It can be short or long, silent or guided, eyes open or closed… one of the most incredible things about meditation when we approach it with wonder and acceptance is that it can be a new journey each day. I am very excited to embark on this mindfulness journey with my group this week.
Since the weather is getting warmer, In May I will be hosting some Pop-Up backyard classes. If you are already on the Pop-Up list, you will receive notifications. If want to be added to the list to receive notification about those classes, please let me know.
