Peace is this Moment without Judgment

SUNRISE BEACH HANDSTAND MARCH 27

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. As I mentioned last week in this newsletter, I am working through a flare up of an old injury and that brings old thought patterns. One of the habits of thought I notice during these times is a bit of bargaining with the universe for my own happiness. We all do that sometimes. “If this happens…then I will be happy”.

A poem sent to me recently was just the reminder I needed that we have the opportunity to create our peace and happiness one moment at a time. The equation is quite simple to explain and a bit harder to execute which is exactly why we need to practice. I think of it this way: This Moment – Judgment = PEACE.

On the mat this week I shared an excerpt from the poem (see below) which explains this equation beautifully. We practiced meeting our bodies in each moment of our practice without judgment; letting go of the wishing or bargaining and instead finding peace in the now. I always find myself so grateful for this practice and the power it has to cultivate more peace in our lives.

Peace Is This Moment Without Judgment, Dorothy Hunt
Do you think peace will come some other place than here?
Some other time then now?
In some other heart than yours? Peace is this moment without judgment.
That is all. This moment in the heart-space
where everything that is is welcome.Peace is this moment without thinking
that it should be some other way,
that you should feel some other thing,
that your life should unfold according to your plans. Peace is this moment without judgment,
this moment in the heart-space where everything that is is welcome
