Head in the Sand

I hope you all had a great weekend. I shared a story with my students last week that has turned into my latest Substack article. The story is about an experience I had walking on the beach with my dogs last week and how the witnessing of the mind helps us practice and shift. Please click the link here to read it.
One of the strategies I noticed in my own mind during this walk was the idea that if I can’t execute something fully or perfectly that there is no value in trying at all. I found that perplexing and quite ironic and I almost laughed at myself in thinking about how we actually hope to have the complete opposite approach when it comes to our yoga practice.
We know our bodies show up for us in different ways each day and when we get on the mat the practice is to find joy in what is available and surrender what is not. We meet whatever our bodies have to offer us with compassion. It’s not about perfection, rather about perfect practice. That can at times be more difficult off the mat as I share in my story but that truly is the practice.
