Intentions help us Heal

Happy New Year! After my New Years Day class today I will be traveling for the rest of the week so I thought I would share my New Year message in this newsletter.
There is so much focus on the changing of the year. We make RESOLUTIONS; expectations of meaningful change, that are usually difficult to follow though on. Often, the failure to fulfill our resolutions causes significant suffering. I prefer to use the word INTENTION when exploring personal shifts and opportunities for growth.
For fun I looked up the definitions of the words RESOLUTION & INTENTION. The first definitions of both words are somewhat similar however INTENTION is a bit softer and more forgiving. Yet interestingly, the second definition of INTENTION in the Oxford Dictionary is; the healing process of a wound.
I truly could not have said it better myself. While RESOLUTIONS are about success and failure and often focus more on how the world sees us versus how we see ourselves, INTENTIONS are more about healing and growing inside and originate from a place of nurturing versus expecting.
So my wish for all of you in the coming year is to look in, explore all of the goodness you hold inside and to set your intentions around healing the wounds that cause suffering. With the reminder that it is a practice; that consistency and acceptance over time is how we can cultivate growth in ourselves and minimize our suffering, we can truly fulfill our intentions.
I am grateful to continue on this journey with all of you in 2024.
